Make Recycling a Part of Your Next Project
Recycling isn’t just a buzzword or a fad, its serious business. The Earth’s population is growing at an exponential rate, and so is the demand for a limited supply of natural resources. We all have to do our part to create sustainability.
At RedStone Construction Group, we are committed to green building practices and were the first road contractor and asphalt products company in Central Arkansas to fully integrate recycled materials into our everyday products. We’re able to recycle 99% of the concrete and asphalt waste created by our milling and demolition crews and re-purpose it for new projects. This helps us keep over 3,000 dump truck loads of waste out of our landfills every year, and also reduces our carbon footprint.
We’re proud to participate in the LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) program, which is a green building certification program sponsored by the United States Green Building Council to recognize and certify buildings that maximize water and energy efficiency, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. LEED offers multiple certification levels, and is the most widely used third-party verification for green buildings. Almost two million square feet of new construction receive LEED certification daily, and the LEED program helps contractors rethink the way that construction projects are planned, maintained, and operated.
Our paving projects can use recycled concrete as road base. We take the concrete waste from our excavation jobs, and send it to our local recycling facility. Once it arrives, the concrete is crushed to the desired consistency. Re-purposing concrete waste also saves money for our clients because we don’t have to mine additional rock from our Little Rock Quarry to produce new concrete!
Our asphalt products can include up to up to 20% recycled asphalt, and up to 3% recycled shingles. Our warm mix asphalt base can be heated with eco-friendly soy diesel fuel, which reduces emissions, and requires 14% less fuel.
